Ideal Bookshelf 1253: Disability Pride

In June 2023, many of you suggested books that should be included in a Disability Pride set, for Disability Pride month in July. Here are the results! As with all the sets, it doesn't include everything possible because there are just TOO MANY wonderful books in the world, but I tried my best to feature many excellent own-voices stories from a diverse group of authors. 

We will donate 5% of the revenue from sales of this print to We Need Diverse Books, a brilliant organization focused on "[p]utting more books featuring diverse characters into the hands of all readers." Their definition of diverse experiences includes "(but [is] not limited to) LGBTQIA, Native, people of color, gender diversity, people with disabilities*, and ethnic, cultural, and religious minorities." The asterisk on disabilities explains further: "*We subscribe to a broad definition of disability, which includes but is not limited to physical, sensory, cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities, chronic conditions, and mental illnesses (this may also include addiction). Furthermore, we subscribe to a social model of disability, which presents disability as created by barriers in the social environment, due to lack of equal access, stereotyping, and other forms of marginalization."
